Parent’s Guide to Healthy Neurodevelopment

Stewarding Your Child’s Brain From Conception to Graduation
By Dr. Chris Slininger, DC, DCCJP & Dr. Ethan Surprenant, DC

From the very first heartbeat in the womb through the last steps of adolescence, your child’s brain develops at an astonishing pace — each stage building on the last to form the foundation for focus, learning, behavior, and resilience.

Most parents are never given the tools to truly understand how that process works — or how everyday choices and environments can either nurture a child’s development or quietly derail it. This book changes that.

Written by Dr. Chris Slininger, DC, DCCJP and Dr. Ethan Surprenant, DC, it makes complex neuroscience accessible, practical, and empowering for families. More than a checklist of milestones, it offers a principled framework for stewarding your child’s development from conception through graduation — for parents, grandparents, and even young couples preparing to start a family.

Inside, you’ll discover how to

  • Understand the keystones of brain development and why they matter at every stage
  • Recognize when missed milestones may signal deeper neurological delays
  • Support your child through challenges like ADHD, dysautonomia, and sensory processing disorders
  • Apply proven, practical strategies that build lifelong focus, resilience, and health
  • Navigate today’s pharmaceutically driven culture with a root-cause approach that goes beyond symptom management
  • Know when to seek expert help — and which providers can create actionable solutions
