Six months into the same migraine, you stop making plans. Can a neck problem really sustain a months-long migraine?
The wiring says yes. The trigeminal system that generates migraine pain doesn't stop at the skull; its nucleus runs down into the upper cervical cord, right where the atlas sits. A misalignment there can keep feeding the pain circuit indefinitely, which would explain a migraine that ignores medication designed to interrupt attacks. It isn't the whole story for every migraine patient, and I'd never claim it is. But there's early research pointing the same direction: a pilot study of atlas realignment in migraine patients found meaningful improvement in headache-related quality of life (Woodfield et al., 2015). What does a real recovery timeline look like?
It was slow at first, and then the gains built on each other. No overnight cure, and Frederick says so on camera, which I respect. First the correction, then holding it, then tolerance creeping back. Sunlight stopped being an enemy somewhere around the two-month mark. Then came planning, which sounds small unless you've lived with chronic headaches, where not being able to commit to anything is one of the hardest parts. Then Disney World with the kids. The outcome that mattered was never a pain score. It was a mother standing in the Florida sun with her daughters.
